Kinects
Seattle, Washington

Kinects will be unique. Three sides of this 40 story apartment tower will taper gently outward as the building rises, with each floor six inches wider than the floor below.  As a result, the top floor will be 1,600 square feet larger than the bottom floor, creating more rentable square footage at the top of the building where rents are highest.

The structure, currently in design, will be constructed of cast-in-place concrete with two-way flat plate post-tensioned floor slabs.  Through a peer review process, CKC was granted permission to proceed with designing a seismic system for the building that consists of a single core extending from the foundation to the roof.  This alleviated the need for beams in the units, which is required in a dual seismic system configuration.
