Designed to accommodate Charleston’s growing travel needs and an expansion of the existing PG-2, PG-3 is the latest construction development at Charleston International Airport. The project is a six-level free-standing parking structure that contains 7,200 parking stalls.
It includes a consolidated rental car facility on Levels 1-3, a two-story Customer Service Center on Levels 2-3, a new pedestrian bridge, and relevant roadway improvements.
The massive 6-story, 2.4 million square foot project is being constructed of long span cast-in-place concrete with post-tensioned beams and slabs. Interestingly, Charleston is in a pocket of high seismic risk, so the structural design includes special ductile concrete moment frames to resist seismic forces.
