299 Milwaukee is an 8-story residential building with 2 levels of below grade parking located in Denver, Colorado. The project will include 230 parking stalls as well as 164 residential units to accommodate residents. The building will also provide retail at ground level, and a rooftop pool for residents to enjoy.
The use of light gauge construction proved extremely efficient. Unlike wood, this high-quality system is fire resistant and free of vertical shrinkage. Further, by using concrete-filled metal jumbo deck, floor spans exceeding twenty feet were made possible and the need for sub-framing was completely eliminated. This resulted in reduced floor-to-floor height. This system combined with concrete shear walls to resist lateral loads, eliminated the need for strap bracing and concentrated all the building lateral elements.
